Tonight in the Lower East Side of Manhattan everyone’s favorite Banksy Parodist Hanksy is taking over with the help of some of NYC’s finest including GILF!, Elle, Lexi Bella, Joseph Meloy, Clint Mario, Frank Ape, B.D. White, and many more!
Let’s just start with the fact that at 2pm this afternoon there was 10-20 people already lined up to be the first to see this show. It doesn’t hurt that the first 50 people will receive a special gift pack… but still.. it’s cold out there!
So what’s all the hype about? Who is Hanksy? Hanksy is a street artist who makes somewhat cheesy puns and pastes their illustrations all over NYC. Originally known for his Banksy rat with the face replaced with Tom Hanks head, Hanksy has now snowballed into an entire brand!
Hanksy’s crude style and witticism may not originally have been the most intellectual art, but it is entertaining and makes people smile. But beyond the puns are also works depicting inspirational and interesting phrases, a logical progression from his initial style.
Whether you think he is a genius or just lucky (I personally really enjoy the simplicity and witticism of his work) one can not deny that Hanksy has drafted a stellar cast of character to support his show tonight. Patrons can enjoy additional works by GILF!, Elle, Lexi Bella, Joseph Meloy, Clint Mario, Frank Ape, B.D. White, to name a few.
So head down tonight and pick up a tshirt, a print or just enjoy complementary PBR. Get there early because this show is going to be packed!
