Last Friday, SAN attended the opening from one of the pioneers and world-renowned artists of punk art aka Jamie Reid for his first solo exhibition in Los Angeles at Subliminal Projects.

“Ragged Kingdom” brings together a variety of material spanning several decades from the 1970s to the present and includes original collage work, drawings, paintings, prints, poster editions, and photographs.
Reid remains most famous for his work with the Sex Pistols, however there are arguably eight distinct periods that define his output; Suburban Press, The Cat Book, Sex Pistols, How To Become Invisible, Afrocelt/Visual Stress, Strongroom, a Festival of Sleeves and the Eightfold Year.
Some of the symbols he previously used like the Boudicca, the Oak Leaf, and Delacroixʼs Liberty Leading the People are used in new forms relating to current issues, whereas his recent paintings from the Eightfold Series reflect his taste for spirituality and nature.
The show also featured a new, collaborative print with Shepard Fairey which made an appearance as guest DJ.

If you are in LA, the show runs until April 14th at Subliminal Projects, 1331 W. Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90026
